New Delhi traders to launch SMS protest

Criticising the state government for its "lethargic approach" to withdrawing value added tax legislation, an assocation of Delhi traders has started an SMS campaign against the move. Messages will be sent to various persons, including journalists, intellectuals, elected representatives, and central and state leaders.

Kicked off last Saturday by nearly 100 trade association members, the campaign was based on a "chain letter" strategy, where each trader was asked to send out at least 10 text messages to other numbers, telling the recipients about VAT and how it affects both traders and consumers. As reported in Delhi Newsline and mentioned in SMS: Business Gets the Message.
