New guidelines for cell phone safety
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), based in Geneva, whose standards are used in 100 nations, has brokered an accord to help authorities assess the potential health risks facing mobile phone users, reports CNN.
"Its new guidelines would make it easier for phone manufacturers and officials to compare research done in different countries on mobile phone radiation.
The board said that given the growing amount of research showing potential implications from mobile phone use may have health implications, it would be wise to adopt a "precautionary approach" -- particularly with children, whose brains are still developing.
The new IEC guidelines include for the first time a standard on how manufacturers measure the amount of radiation their mobile phones emit."
