Warning: Mobile phones are addictive
"¿Tu vida es móvil?" ("Your life is mobile?") is the theme of the campaign launched by the Federation of Consumers in Action (Federación de Consumidores en Acción) (FACUA )- in a campaign to warn consumers of the dangers of mobile phone usage.
FACUA claims that excessive use may cause "cell phone addiction" and drastic increases in family spendings as well as generate physical and psychological troubles.
FACUA even compares cell phone ads to tobacco industry: presenting them as a tool for freedom, a social status helping to gain acceptance in a group or to make new friends... just like cigarette ads promise. "However, the feeling of such freedom can lead to a real addiction or at least to an excessive use of those devices".
