Amber Alerts to transmit on cell phones

Amber Alerts, a US nationwide network to help find missing children, should go nationwide by next year, according to a a Justice Department official. The system is already existing in 45 States.

The Amber Alert network that once depended on fax and e-mail to relay images and messages now relies on digital images and other technology that can spread word about a missing child within minutes to everywhere from cell phones to lottery ticket machines, according to The Dallas News.
