The Red Cross will offer real-time alerts to critical blood inventories, tips for successful blood donations or even early notification of exciting new promotions. Once you opt-in for this program, you will be able to make appointments via a click to call feature or locate a blood drive simply by entering a zip code.
Donors can subscribe to Red Cross texting simply by sending redcross to 42227 or registering at bloodisneeded.org.

Christie's to auction 'Sopranos' clothing
Tony Soprano's bathrobe and other items of clothing will be auctioned off at Christie's Pop Culture auction June 25, reports NJ.com.

A blood-covered outfit he wore when he was shot by a dementia-plagued Uncle Junior in season six is expected to sell for $2,000 to $3,000.
James Gandolfini donated about two dozen of his own costumes from the show for the auction. Proceeds from the sales of his personal items will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit group that assists severely wounded soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan."

According to WTOP News, "the group, Friends of the National Zoo, is collecting the old cell phones, their batteries and accessories. The materials will be recycled or refurbished in an effort to cut down on both waste and the mining of coltan in the Congo , where wild gorillas are threatened. Coltan is used to coat components of cell phones."
