Jibbs phones home with 1.4 million ringtone sales

St. Louis rapper Jibbs got a special — perhaps dubious — mention in the newest Billboard magazine. The story points out that some rap artists are making up for low CD sales with big ringtone sales and cited “Chain Hang Low” by Jibbs.

Billboard says he sold nearly 200,000 copies of the “Jibbs feat. Jibbs” CD. But he sold more than 1.4 million ringtones at $2 a pop, amounting to $2.8 million in auxiliary sales."
