Mobile piracy to cost Europe $4.4bn in 2006

musicpiracy.gif The high number of pirated ringtones and music files being transferred via mobiles is costing the European mobile industry some EU3.5bn ($4.4 bn) in unclaimed revenue a year, according to new research by analyst firm Forst & Sullivan, reports Netimperative.

"The report revealed that around 80% of mobile phone content has been hacked or downloaded onto mobile phones, illegally from websites, or through the use of Bluetooth, memory cards and other storage devices."
