India's Channel V Launches Talent Hunt On Mobile

India's leading music channel, has launched Mobile Singer, a first-of-its-kind interactive talent hunt on the wireless platform. Leading film music director Bappi Lahiri will be responsibile for finding new talent.

According to the press release, the winner of Mobile Singer will walk away with an opportunity to not only sing but also star in his/her own ‘disco' video along with Bappi-Da! That's not all... The song will also feature on an album that Bappi Da will be releasing across the country in December 2005.

It sounds like this will involve people recording themselves singing on mobile phones and sending in their entry, sort of like karaoke, says James Pearce.
