Shopfar offers iTunes credits in shopper loyalty scheme

new_title_image.gif A new shopping portal, Shopfar, launched today that rewards users' loyalty with music rather than points, reports UK's NMA.

"Purchases on the shopping sites affiliated to Shopfar.com earn free credits worth one, ten or 100 songs. These can then be redeemed on Apple's iTunes Music Store.

Shopfar claims it has hundreds of shopping sites affiliated. These include Expedia, Figleaves, Ebay and HMV, which launched its own download service to rival iTunes last week.

By offering music, Shopfar - which is a collaboration between Karma Collective and iTunes - hopes to offer a new twist on loyalty shopping sites in a crowded market.

Shopfar also offers another channel to market for Apple's iTunes service on top of the dedicated Motorola phone which launched this week.
