Fixed lines sizzles up with ringtones

homephone.gif Value added services such as SMS, MMS and ringtones, which have become differentiators and major revenue generators for the cellular service providers, are set to energise the fixed line telephones market (in India) as well, according to The Economic Times.

... Airtel, which has been a leader in introducing value-added services on the landline phones, now has 30,000 subscribers for it's Hello tunes in this segment.

... Facilities like live cricket scores, music downloads, parallel ringing and call forwarding make the fixed line phones, which families use at home, more relevant and the whole experience more exciting. Some features like delayed hotline also enhance security for very young or aged users."
