Bluetooth advertising boost for Coldplay

Advertising using Bluetooth-enabled interactive posters continues to establish itself in the UK, with the mobile marketing campaign for Coldplay's X&Y album having had hits with 13,000 fans who downloaded pre-release video clips, interviews, audio samples and images onto their mobiles from Bluetooth equipped advert screens at London mainline stations.

The Bluetooth ‘BlueCasting' campaign from content agency Filter works by sending messages over Bluetooth to suitably equipped handsets that have been ‘discovered' in the vicinity of the advert. Time sensitive messages and info can then be sent to the user if they choose to receive it.

Filter reported a 15 per cent take up rate overall (87,000 handsets were discovered) during the campaign. The BlueCasting system is set to be extended to other products, services and content over the coming months
