Hip hop-ify your cell phone

Chingy.gif Russell Simmons' Def Jam Enterprises and greeting card company American Greetings are launching several new wireless services under the name Def Jam Mobile, according to Friday's New York Post, reports CNN.

"Def Jam Mobile signed music artists like Chingy and Method Man to produce new tunes exclusively for mobile phones, the paper said.

In addition to hip-hop ring tones, the article states, Def Jam Mobile will also offer "sportz tonez," which will allow sports fans to hear the sounds of their favorite games when their cell phone rings.

The company has also signed licensing deals with various sports stars, including the Knicks' Stephon Marbury, the Red Sox' David Ortiz, the Dallas Cowboys' Roy Williams and the Minnesota Twins' Torii Hunter, the paper said.

Meanwhile, MTV Networks plans to roll out a service that will let cell phone users to download music and video clips of shows".
