Music industry nervous as Xingtone funds ringtones expansion

PC Pro on venture funding from Siemens Mobile to Xingtone:

"The music industry is haunted by the fear that customers will decide to create their own 30 second ringtones rather than buy them from existing sources. That would destroy another revenue stream just as the industry feels it is getting over the damage caused by illegal peer to peer copying pioneered by Napster and Kazaa. The Recording Industry Association of America is already said to be looking into the Xingtone business model."
