Ringtones Still Top Mobile Downloads

So is that really a surprise? Handango, a mobile/PDA related content download portal in U.S., has released it quarterly figures on the downloads through its site. The figures for Q4 2003 are like this: Ringtones rang up 81% of digital content sales with graphics a distant second at 11%. Themes and screen savers rounded out the sales with 5% and 3%, respectively. Thirty-five percent of the featured ringtones were from the rap/ hip-hop genre with an additional 30% being TV/Movie themes. The remaining 35% of the top 20 ringtones included holiday, pop and classic rock songs.
