Nokia To Showcase Interactive Handset Radio Technology at MIDEM
Well, it's MIDEM time, and Nokia is there in full force, for the first time, showcasing its mobile handset 7700, with its multi-media and radio/music playing capabilities.
It will launch an interactive visual radio at the festival (and I'll be there, providing blow-by-blow coverage). The Nokia 7700 Media Device, has a so-called "visual radio" function... the listener will get not just the sound signal but the ability to show images and text on the handset display screen.
The large display allows for streamed video images, the speed of which would naturally depend on the speed of the operator's network. This could make sports fans one possible user-group. And businessmen, too, might be excited at the possibility of getting graphs and stock exchange numbers up on their phone in real-time. (Story here)
