Watching TV Online

Because I think it's huge already (I know so many people who no longer watch TV series on television, but over the Internet - I'm one of them), I'm opening a new blog called WatchingTV Online.

It will follow how TV content published online is impacting the Television industry and how the industry is fighting back. It will explore the new generation of TV series as a writing genre, realistic and fast paced - truly a new art form. [ 24', Weeds, Desperate Housewives, Prison Break, Lost, Heroes, nip/tuck, Dr House, Dexter, CSI:, Grey's Anatomy, the 1400, Veronica Mars, Scrubs, The OC, Smallville, The Shield... ]

But also, the crossing of moral bounderies each new season. I'm going to try and pull together research and studies on what this says about our society and how it's perceived around the world.

The Man with Horns

etiennedumontphsteeveiuncker.jpg Not related to cell phones, but a haunting and beautiful piece on LoIP of Etienne Dumont, a brilliant art and culture critic with the Tribune de Genève newspaper in Geneva.

"I had heard of his physical extravagance, which beautifully matches his writing style, but I'd never seen the man. The picture was made without using any computer graphics. Dumont is tattooed from head to toe; has plexiglas piercings on the nose and under the lower lip; a titanium ring on the left hand; rings of 70-mm (2.7 inches) of diameter on the earlobes. And two horns on his head, which he plans to grow bigger in the coming days -- by replacing the two silicon spheres currently inserted under his skin with larger ones.

... He dismisses any psychological reading of his corporal transformation: "In the US, to justify their tattoos they often talk of spiritual quest; for me, it's just amusing" . And he states: "Being an extravagant man gives me greater freedom".

He was recently written up in the La Tribune de Genève, where he spoke out about his transformation (in French). "I was told this would change my life. Not al all! I live in the same apartment, work at the same job and have no health problems".

Please take the Textually Network Short Survey

fm_badge.jpg The textually blogs, including Picturephoning.com, have recently been accepted into the Federated Media Publishing network, and as part of the initial process of starting up, FM asks their Authors to run a survey on their site.

The survey asks pretty standard questions of their audiences, so as to make better matches between marketers and an author's sites.

Many thanks for taking a minute to fill out this short survey , and letting us know more about you.

It'll help make the Textually blogs and FM more successful - without reader input, there's not a business in the first place. Thanks in advance, and please let me know if you have any trouble or input.

France24 not responding -

UPDATE: my mistake, apologies to France 24, website only goes live tonight at 8:30pm (GMT+1).

Not related to cell phones. But I'm unable to view France's new "CNN", France 24, which went live last night with much hoopla, following a send off by Jacques Chirac himself on the 8 o'clock national news channel.

Click through doesn't respond in order to access the website beyond the introductory page on my Mac Power Book using either Firefox or IE, though I did my best to follow the uh, instructions:

CLICK TWICE ON THE IMAGE FOR A FULL SCREEN VIEW (THEN ON THE ESCAPE BUTTON TO RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL SCREEN).

Quelle honte!
