Japanese Government to Build largest scale "system for watching children"
"According to SankeiWeb, the Japanese geverment (Soum-sho) is planning to spend $ 10 million to build "a system for watching kids" using mobile phones, GPS and RFID tags, with RFID readers and communication devices installed at school gates and electric polls.
There'll soon be pilot tests in 20 regions across the country. Parents receive notifications when their kids pass nearby RFID readers; warning messages will be sent out when the kids enter a "dangerous area."
This is the first large scale test of this kind of systems. "
