Witness Human Rights Video Hub Pilot

The Human Rights Video Hub Pilot is a collaborative project between witness.org, globalvoicesonline.org and freeformed.org created with the intention to encourage people to record the human rights abuses they witness with their mobile phones and submit the videos via MMS or through a J2ME application to a witness review board for curation and publication on the globalvoicesonline site.

The Human Rights Video Hub Pilot is a first step towards a larger endeavor that WITNESS is currently undertaking: the development of a Human Rights Video Hub. This Hub will be a place where anyone anywhere can upload human rights related footage video from handheld devices or laptops, to create communities and proposed calls to action around the abuses they witness.

This project, by Catherine Colman, Yonatan Kelib, Nanna Halinen, Jung Oh, Megan MacMurray, will be shown at the ITP WInter Show, a two day exhibition of interactive sight, sound and physical objects from student artists of ITP to be held December 17 and 18 in New York City.
