Weather girls team up for cell-phone news

20060214p2a00m0na021000p_size6.jpg Ten young women selected to work as weather presenters for a broadcast service aimed at cell phone users teamed up for a final rehearsal at a studio in Chiba Prefecture, reports the Mainichi Daily News.

The presenters will appear on the "Oha-Ten" weather program for cell phone users. They will replace six other presenters, who also showed up at the studio on Monday.

In the program, female presenters give weather information for various regions on that day, providing forecasts and picking up on certain areas. Video broadcasts are sent to cell phone users.

Weather presenters on the program are replaced every three months. The 10 new presenters were chosen from 2,100 applicants across the country based on auditions and cell-phone voting . Two presenters will cover each region."
