Memo to Olympic team: capture the moment with eyes, not cameras
According to the The Age, Olympic athletes will be encouraged not to carry digital cameras or cameraphones into the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony next month.
"Ceremonies artistic director Andrew Walsh, the creative brains behind the Athens Olympic ceremonies, said video cameras were not appropriate at such an event.
"We will probably suggest to them (athletes) what I said, which is don't spoil your moment, you don't need a camera," he said. "I would prefer them to concentrate on the moment rather than looking through a little square box at the head in front of them. I don't think it's appropriate."
Although Mr Walsh's views will not be enforced, they will be communicated to team bosses of the 71 competing nations.
