Legislature Takes Up 'Upskirting' Bill Again

6663805_240X180.jpg Lawmakers heard from victims of "upskirting" and "down-blousing" Wednesday during debate over a bill that would make the high-tech peeping a high crime, reports WBALTV who even made a special logo (picture left) for the occasion, with a timely NFL feel to it.

"No state law specifically addresses cell phone camera abuse, but there a statute regarding hidden cameras might apply. The statute is a misdemeanor and conveys a $1,000 fine and/or six months in jail.

During the last legislative session, Howard County Delegate Neil Quinter, D-District 13, sponsored several bills to change that. Every Delegate voted in favor of Quinter's House Bill 1413, but the session expired before the state Senate could take a final vote.

On Wednesday, he introduced legislation that would make upskirting a crime punishable with up to one year in jail."
