2-Megapixel Image Sensor for Camera Phones

magnachip_MC521DA.jpgMagnaChip Semiconductor rolls out 2-megapixel CMOS image sensor SOC (MC521DA) for camera phones, the company, writes Telecoms Korea.

MC521DA is an SOC sensor with the pixel size of 2.8×2.8um, which is characterized by low light performance ensuring clear picture quality in the dark. It is also designed for 1/4-inch format modules.

The picture quality is also guaranteed by complex compensation algorithms such as adaptive pipeline control. The image sensor processes 15 frames per second at full resolution and 30 frames at VGA resolution and its power consumption is only 160mW at full-resolution and full-frame rate. The company will start mass production in the late Q1.
