HBO in Exclusive Mobile Content Deal Talks With Cingular

050809_HBOCingular_hsmall.widec.jpg Cingular Wireless and the cable network are trying to seal a groundbreaking deal that could bring Emmy-winning content to the small, small screen, reports MSNBC.

"Under terms now being negotiated, Cingular would, among other things, offer access to HBO programming that has been customized for wireless devices, such as iconic series as “Sex and the City”, “The Sopranos”, “Six Feet Under” and “Deadwood”.

Rafat Ali in Moco News reacts to the hype in this story as ABC announced a similar deal the day before yesterday, and NBC Sports announced something yesterday.

Also, writes Rafat, "when the whole world is moving towards off-deck and non-exclusive deals, exclusive content deal might not be the smartest thing to do, if you ask me. HBO will be nipping its own mobile potential in the bud if they do this. Anyway, I'm reacting to the stupid hype in the story…my two cents".
