Samsung Sells Motion-Cognitive Phones
Unveiled in January, Samsung Electronics has now launched their new mobile handset with a motion-recognition function, the company said Sunday, reports The Korea Times.
"The SCH-S310 phone features built-in sensors that enable the device to recognize and translate the movement of the handset, Samsung said.
Using the handset to physically describe an "O" shape in the air triggers a pre-recorded voice message that says "very good" or "dandy," while an "X" shape elicits the response "I don't like" or "I hate."
The motion-cognitive capability also enables the user to dial phone numbers by writing the numbers in the air in a similar manner. When unsolicited advertising messages arrive, the user can erase them by moving the phone up and down twice.
The phone, which will retail at around 500,000 won ($500), also sports a 1.3-megapixel camera, MP3 player and global positioning system."
