Cetizen.com introduces "Mobile Phone Photo News"
JonngAng Daily reports that the community site Cetizen.com introduced a new section called "Mobile Phone Photo News," where people can post news photos taken with their phones.
Cetizen, with 700,000 members, is mainly a site for reviews of mobile phones and mobile games. With the news section, though, the company is seeking to join the ranks of what is called citizen-participatory journalism, such as the online newspaper OhMyNews
Cetizen's offerings, though, will be confined mostly to phone camera images instead of text and, it insists, will take no political stances.
Anyone can post a photo by pressing #4040 on their phones, regardless of mobile service. After approval, these photos are then posted to Cetizen's Web site. There is no separate cost for posting the photos.
The editorial staff then filters the photos, moving the most newsworthy ones to the news category. Those submitting can also apply to become phone camera reporters. People can also post short video and audio clips."
