From St Peter's by MMS

Paolo Valdemarin is posting camera phone shots of the crowd at St. Peter's Basilica, as he waits to see the Pope. via mobile/blog.it

And Italian fellow blogger Riccardo Cambiassi over at All Things Bru has published the last SMS to date sent out to the citizens of Rome, received by the Italian National Guard. It says:

"Because of the huge number of people, access to the queues for seeing the Pope is closed since wedneseday at 22 o'clock. Traffic circulation in Rome will be suspended on Friday for the funeral. St.Peter's area is full: there will be screens both in the square and in Torvergata"
