FIFA Soccer group considering mobile-phone broadcasts
With video emerging as a new mobile-phone application, the international ruling body for soccer is dangling the possibility of mobile-phone broadcasts of the World Cup tournament. [via Comms Design/EE Times]

FIFA is also pondering additional rules for mobile broadcasts, including "time embargos" that could restrict or prohibit live coverage of game. "Signal distribution on DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld) could be blocked," said Ericson, and FIFA might refuse permission to modify the television feed for mobile applications."
