Verizon Offers High-Speed Consumer Service

Verizon Wireless plans to introduce in February the first U.S. consumer services to take advantage of so-called 3G or high-speed mobile networks, the company said on Friday, reports Reuters.

In a news conference during the annual Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, Verizon said it will deliver video and games with improved graphics on a choice of three handsets from different vendors, in 30 cities starting on February 1.

"This is probably the biggest announcement that Verizon Wireless will have all year and maybe the biggest announcement in the U.S. wireless industry," Verizon President and Chief Executive Denny Strigl said.
