KTF to Trace Imported Beef with RFID

ktf_rfid.jpg KTF, the second largest mobile carrier of Korea announced that it would launch service to trace the origin of imported beef using RFID from next year, reports Telecoms Korea.

The service is to trace the origin, customs clearance, and sales of imported beef and manage the distribution process using RFID.

"If imported beef turn out to be imported from a country where mad cow disease is reported, users can easily track and collect the infected beef thanks to the service. Consumers who buy the imported beef also can keep track of the distribution process.

An official of KTF said, “With barcodes currently used, the origin of imported beef can be so easily faked as it can rip off. However, with RFID, consumers are less likely to be deceived.”
