Firms Join for Mobile-Phone TV

mobile-phone-TV.jpg Five of the world's top mobile-phone manufacturers are joining forces on the delivery of TV broadcasts to handsets, opening yet another opportunity for content providers and hoping to drive demand for next-generation wireless devices and services, according to NewsFactor Network.

"Working under the auspices of the global Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), Motorola, NEC, Nokia, Siemens and Sony Ericsson plan to collaborate on mobile-broadcast specifications.

An initial goal is to provide TV content over a mobile-broadcast network, with a long-term objective of increasing consumption of media content on mobile devices. "
