Telstra hits i-Mode road
Telstra is in the midst of a multimillion dollar campaign to change the way Australians work, rest and play with their mobile phones, reports The Age.
"In the process it believes it will be the catalyst for the advent of a brave new era of electronic enterprise in Australia.
At the core of this claim is i-mode, the mobile wireless technology that has taken Japan by storm and is now moving out to the rest of the world.
Telstra's i-mode licence, signed with Japan's NTT in June, is the first English-language implementation of a system that is now operating in 10 countries, most recently in Greece where it was installed for the Olympic Games.
