Megapixel phone sales broke the record of one million in Korea
South Korea's "Big Three" mobile phone producers, including Samsung Electronics, sold more than 1 million units of mega-pixel camera phones for the first time, creating a real high-end mobile phone market in Korea, reports Digital Chosunilbo.
"According to the industry surveys on Sunday, Samsung Electronics, Pantech & Curitel and LG Electronics -- the "Big Three" firms -- sold a total of 1.022 million units of upper-end mobile phones with 1 million mega pixel cameras from January to July this year. Samsung Electronics sold 447,400 units, Pantech & Curitel sold 295,000 units and LG Electronics sold 279,800 units.
Meanwhile, Korea's mega-pixel phone market is expected to face cut-throat competition in September when the top 3 handset makers bring out 3-megapixel camera phones, according to Telecoms Korea.
