Sony faces US embargo over cameras and phones

Electronics Giant Sony is facing a probe by the US International Trade Commission after an American firm alleged it breached some of its patents, reports The Inquirer.

"According to a report on nikkei.net, Ampex, based in Redwood, is claiming that Sony's digital cameras and camera phones breach patents it owns.

The ITC said it has started an investigation while will take about six weeks for it to complete, with Ampex wanting an injunction against Sony products which allegedly breach its IP which would prevent them being imported into the USA.

Ampex filed a similar claim with the ITC earlier this year against another Japanese giant, Sanyo."
