Camera phones with shutters - no more red-eye
Cellular News reports on a Korean mobile phone maker who has developped a cameraphone with mechanical shutters, preventing the red-eye effect.
"Pentech & Curitel, Korea's third-largest mobile phone maker, says that it developed complementary metal oxide semiconductors, or CMOS camera phone module that adopts mechanical shutters for the first time in the world.
"The module will prevent the red-eye effect and ensure digital camera quality. It also has three shooting modes so that users can select a focus distance. The manufacturer added that the module saves battery life by 80% compared to other CCD camera modules in 3 megapixel phones."
