Camera Phone Mural
Rushkoff for TheFeature.com describes Kate Boelhauf's Camera Phone Mural, her Spring 2004 thesis for NYU.
Her goal is to create a community based mural that will be collaborative in its making. The mural's visual appearance will be determined by images uploaded by individual users. Kate will construct the framework for the mural and user's image will form shaped inside of the framework.
"Users will be able to uplaod images wirelessly via a camera phone while standing directly in front of the murak, establishing that this type of interaction will support communication in a public space and create an original piece of art.
Inspired by such efforts as the "Free Speech Mural," where passersby were invited to paint their own sections, the Camera Phone Mural project is envisioned as a set of themed, collaborative artworks that increase our awareness of shared places. "
