Calling All Megapixels

(sub. req.) Eric Hellweg of Business 2.0 calls on all the camera phone manufacturers and telecom operators to solve their incompatibility and interoperability issues, as he believes camera phones will reach digital-camera-level quality this year.

"When these kinks are eliminated and the prices for 1- and 2-megapixel phones come down, I think some consumers will consider purchasing a high-end camera phone in lieu of buying both a phone and a digital camera. Why buy two devices when you can get both functions in one? Call it Hellweg's Law: In the world of handheld consumer electronics, the device that induces the least pocket clutter always wins."
