Combining Camera Phones and Gaming
Watch out for this German game developer to be creating some big buzz in the near future: Mobile Scope has launched a new techology to include motion sensitivity in wireless games, using the in-built camera in these phones. A new version of its popular Moorhen game is to be introduced in March 2004, dubbed Moorhen Camera X, which has the capability of sensing your hand movements and taking input from those movements, rather than rely on input from the phone's arrow keys or numerical keypad.
The company said the technology can track the physical movements of the phone by essentially taking a series of digital pictures. Thus, users can move the character or object in their game by physically moving their phone up and down or left and right.
Moorhen Camera X appears to be the first game which enables motion sensitivity by means of camera input, which is a novel approach to a concept which has previously been dominated by the implementation of dedicated tilt sensor devices.
