The BBC Deploys Video Cell Phones
Forbes reports on the BBC's deployment of video cell phones.
"Thanks to the new camera phones, the BBC has been able to broadcast the first images on several stories. Last week for instance, the network had the first shots of a deadly bus crash in Wales when a camera-phone-wielding producer arrived on the scene ahead of the traditional cameras. The video phones were also on duty during President George W. Bush's recent visit to the U.K."
"While the concept is being pioneered in the U.K., it's one that is sure to soon land on U.S. shores and will undoubtedly affect the practice of journalism globally. Fox News says it's currently implementing this technology, but other U.S. news outlets don't seem interested--yet."
