The vOICe - Seeing with Sound

Smart Mobs via the BBC reports on a system called The vOICe (the three middle letters standing for "Oh I See") developed by Dr Peter Meijer, a senior scientist at Philips Research Laboratories in the Netherlands. It works by translating images from a mobile camera phone into complex soundscapes which are transmitted to the user over headphones.
