How business people and professionals are using camera phones
In an interesting article posted today by D.C. Denison in The Boston Globe, a real estate agent describes how her picture phone allows her to shoot on the spot and forward pictures to prospective buyers, giving her a speedy edge in a competite market. And a contractor relates how a snapshot sent to his cell of a building site, can save him an actual trip. He is quoted as saying he encourages all the plumbers and electricians he works with to get picture phones.
This is very much an illustration of a recent Jupiter Research study, mentioned last week in Picturephoning.com, predicting that MMS' real potential may be as a business tool, with business applications accounting for as much $1.4bn of revenue in 2004. In another study quoted in The Boston Globe article, Strategy Analytics said that in five years, as much as 20 percent of picture phone users will be using the technology for work-related purposes.
